PsyPotential offers a variety of personal and professional development programmes aimed at maximising the potential of participants and bringing out the best in them. All programmes are based on a highly interactive, enjoyable and learner-centred training methodology that is based on cutting edge principles of adult learning. The following is a list of customisable programme areas that can be developed into programmes that are tailored to organisational needs.

Leadership

LEAD - The Psychology of Leadership - Managing Self and Leading Others

LEAD is PsyPotential’s flagship professional development programme aimed at three levels of leadership: Junior or Supervisory; Middle; Senior. It combines a number of highly interactive group training seminars with one to one individual coaching. This ensures that the learning content is transferred and applied to the work context of the participants. It also includes a number of assessment and profiling instruments that enable participants to gain a high definition picture of their strengths as well as areas of leadership they need to work on. While highly customisable LEAD has a core structure that focuses on three main areas of leadership: Self, Team and Organisation. Each dimension is addressed through workshops and coaching sessions at the degree of depth and intensity required by the particular group.

 

While highly customisable, LEAD has a core structure and it is recommended that the minimum contact includes: Six full-day or twelve half-day training seminars; four one on one coaching sessions; and one personality profiling test at the beginning of the programme. LEAD guarantees a learning approach that is fun, extremely interesting and transformational. It provides an excellent opportunity for participants to become better leaders as well as grow and develop as individuals.

 

LEAD is offered as:

  • LEAD ENTRY – for new or recently appointed junior managers and supervisors.
  • LEAD DEVELOP – for middle managers with experience in management and leadership.

Personal Development – Intrapersonal Skills

AWARE - Mindfulness at Work

The quick-paced nature of work can sometimes cause discomfort, stress, and feelings of anxiety. The workplace is our second most visited place per week, thus viewing work as a positive activity, can drastically improve general well-being. Mindfulness in the workplace aims to bring awareness to one’s actions and feelings throughout the day to day work-related activities. This allows one to understand what actions or behaviours cause positive or negative emotions, and how one can neutralise feelings of discomfort by using mindfulness techniques. The programme is informative and encourages participants to actively interact and practice mindfulness techniques. This programme may be delivered over a full day workshop or two half days.

INSIGHT - Understanding One’s Personality

INSIGHT is PsyPotential’s personal and professional self-awareness development programme that focuses on understanding one’s personality and behavioural characteristics and identifying ways to increase personal effectiveness at work and in life in general. Participants on this programme start by completing the KTS2 (corporate edition), a psychometric test that is used worldwide to generate personality profiles. The programme will then build on the results of the KTS2 as well as introduce a number of interesting self-awareness exercises that will help participants get to know themselves better and understand the dynamics they create when relating to others.

 

INSIGHT focuses on both personal and professional psychological growth and effectiveness. The duration is normally two full day or four half-day seminars but can be adjusted according to clients’ needs.

HI-POTENTIAL - Developing Personal Power and Personal Strengths

HI-POTENTIAL is a personal empowerment programme aimed at identifying personal strengths and core values and maximising their use in both personal and professional life. The programme uses an instrument that is designed to identify key strengths and enables participants to work on an action plan that makes optimal use of them. Moreover, this programme is designed to boost self-confidence in participants and overcome blocks to achieving personal and professional goals.

 

HI-POTENTIAL is a programme that is specifically designed for people who want to boost their personal effectiveness and feel happier about themselves. The duration of this programme is two full days or four half-days.

AIM - Finding One's Meaning and Purpose and Setting Personal Goals

AIM is a journey of personal discovery that enables participants the opportunity to take some time out for reflection about the direction they are taking in their life and career and evaluate whether this is truly in line with their personal mission. The seminar is a “retreat type” of activity where participants are guided along a process of personal alignment along specific criteria. The process explores and defines:

  • Personal mission and purpose
  • Personal core values
  • Personal Strategy
  • Skills and competencies
  • Actions and behaviours

Participants will have the opportunity to define the four areas and assess the level of alignment between them as well as the impact they are having on their immediate environment and society at large. Finally participants will be encouraged to identify key action points that will enable them to gain better alignment between their purpose, values, skills and actions in order to achieve increased life satisfaction and fulfilment. AIM uses a process called the Life-Role Alignment Process (L-RAP©) developed by Patrick Psaila. It is a guided reflective process that includes elements of structured reflection, sharing of experience and mentoring. It can be held individually or in a group setting. It is usually held over one and a half days, ideally as a residential experience.

FLOURISH - Skills for Personal and Professional Effectiveness

FLOURISH is a cluster programme that brings together a number of intrapersonal and interpersonal skills to form a comprehensive personal effectiveness programme. It is organised in two parts. The first part focuses on intrapersonal skills such as self-awareness, decision-making, goal setting, problem solving, stress management and dealing with change. The second part covers the interpersonal skills that are more socially directed such as communicating effectively; giving and receiving feedback; managing conflict; assertiveness and emotional intelligence.

 

FLOURISH is a very effective programme that is aimed at maximising and boosting the already existing potential of participants. It focuses on the necessary psychological skills for managing oneself effectively and building and maintaining effective relationships. While customisable, it is recommended that this programme runs over a minimum of five full days or ten half days. It can also be complemented with individual coaching sessions.

FOCUS - How to Manage Stress and Perform Under Pressure

FOCUS is a three-part programme that is dedicated entirely to dealing with and managing daily stress and pressure. It takes a holistic approach and addresses four essential dimensions of well-being: Physical; Intellectual; Emotional and Spiritual. The first part of the programme focuses on understanding the nature of stress, and participants will be given the opportunity to go through a personal stress audit that will give them a good indication of their levels of stress. The second part looks at physical and psychological stress symptoms while the third and main part of the programme focuses on identifying ways of addressing stress and pressure through one’s lifestyle and mental habits.

 

FOCUS is an essential programme that promotes personal and organisational well-being and is unique in its comprehensive approach. It is normally held over a day and a half or three half-days.

HARNESS - The Psychology of Managing Anger

HARNESS is a psychological programme that helps individuals who find it hard to manage their anger effectively. It addresses those people who struggle either to contain and manage their feelings of anger or show and express them. HARNESS is based on the premise that anger is in itself a useful and important emotion that indicates that one is being threatened or wronged. It helps participants to learn how to harness this energy and express it constructively in order to achieve desirable outcomes in their relationships with others.

 

HARNESS is a programme that is well founded in tried and tested research on emotional intelligence and cognitive-behavioural therapy and is delivered by a fully qualified and warranted psychologist. It can be taken individually or in a group and normally runs over a twelve-hour period.

LAUNCH - Developing Self-Confidence Skills

LAUNCH is a psychologically-based programme that is aimed at helping participants overcome blocks to self-confidence and unleash the power of their potential. This programme is based on the premise that self-confidence can be learned as one would learn any other skill. It therefore looks at the various skills involved in developing self-confidence and coming across to others in a self-confident manner.

 

LAUNCH addresses typical blocks to self-confidence, mainly internalised negative messages that limit one’s ability to work towards and achieve one’s goals. This programme is based on the tried and tested techniques of cognitive behavioural therapy as well as other practical hands-on techniques on how to come across to others in a more self-assured and self-confident way. Moreover, it empowers participants to feel more self-confident internally when facing various challenging situations. LAUNCH normally runs as a twelve-hour programme either as a day and a half workshop or as three half days.

BALANCE - Skills in Developing a Healthy Work/Life Balance

BALANCE is a programme that enables participants to assess the degree of work-life balance they have in their lives and find practical ways of improving their balance so they can be healthier, happier and more effective in everything they do.

 

BALANCE takes a holistic approach to work-life balance and addresses the importance of continuous investment in the four core dimensions of well- being. These are: Physical; Intellectual; Emotional; and Spiritual. BALANCE also addresses lifestyle management and enableS participants to make the necessary changes in the right places to register a significant improvement in personal well-being and effectiveness. BALANCE normally runs over a full-day seminar but can also be split into two half-days.

REBOOT - Yoga at Work

In our digital age, people who work in an office or from home tend to remain sedentary for around ten hours a day. The need to stand up and move has never been more evident, and the research indicates that prolonged sitting is unhealthy and even dangerous. It is associated with a significantly higher risk of heart disease, diabetes, obesity, cancer, depression, as well as muscle and joint problems.

 

Yoga has been found to improve our psychological and physiological functioning. It enhances memory, cognition, and general well-being. It also reduces stress and provides us with effective tools for dealing with pressure by helping us to develop an internal voice of calm
and reason in difficult circumstances.

 

The main difference between yoga and general exercise is that besides moving in and out of the various poses, we also pay attention to our thoughts and feelings and learn how to manage them better. The consistent practice of Yoga provides essential long-term benefits such as a more relaxed state of mind, improved focus and concentration, a more positive outlook and increased core strength.

 

Our yoga at work sessions are tailored to suit the abilities of the participants and are facilitated within a safe learning environment. Our sessions form part of our Corporate Wellness Programme and they are aimed at promoting health, movement and overall

Interpersonal Development Skills

EXCEED - Developing Emotional & Social Intelligence Skills

EXCEED is one of PsyPotential’s core programmes that addresses the essential skills related to social and emotional intelligence. There is now a large and growing body of research indicating that social and emotional abilities are fundamentally important for people to achieve high levels of success in both their personal and professional life. Moreover, these skills are particularly important for effective leadership that meets the demands of today’s fast moving and rapidly changing knowledge economy.

 

EXCEED is based on the work of global authorities in the field of social and emotional intelligence such as Daniel Goleman, Richard Boyatsiz, John Mayer, Peter Salovey and David Caruso. The programme is solidly founded in the most recent and emerging research in neuroscience.

 

EXCEED addresses the intrapersonal dimension of emotional intelligence as well as the interpersonal dimension of emotional intelligence often referred to as social intelligence. This means that the programme deals with four core abilities: Identifying; Using; Understanding; and Managing emotions in oneself and in others. This programme runs over two full days or four half days and is designed for people from the general workplace as well as people who occupy leadership positions.

RELATE - The Psychology of Positive Communication

RELATE is a programme that is important for life in general as well as workplace relationships. It focuses on key skills in communicating effectively and achieving required outcomes from one’s communication. The problem with interpersonal interactions is that people often unknowingly communicate in ways that trigger off resistance and defensiveness in others. This often leads to miscommunication and unnecessary conflict.

 

RELATE equips participants with the necessary skills and communication tools to relate in ways that maximise openness and encourage cooperation in others. It is a highly interesting and practical programme that also focuses on the importance of non-verbal communication in giving off the right message to others. RELATE is a one day programme and can also be delivered over two half days.

READ - The Psychology of Body Language

READ is one of PsyPotential’s most enjoyable and intriguing programmes and it provides a lot of useful and practical information about non-verbal communication. One of the most frequently quoted statistics in the field of social psychology comes from the work of Albert Mehrabian and states that the impact of human communication is 93% attributable to body language and tone of voice. While often misquoted and overgeneralised there is a strong body of research that indicates that non-verbal communication has a major impact on communication outcomes and is more reliable than words when it comes to deciphering emotions.

 

READ enables participants to become sensitised to major body signals such as facial expressions, hand gestures, posture, head and shoulder movements, general body orientation and interpersonal proximity. It also helps participants become aware of their own typical body language clusters and the impact this has on others when they are communicating.

 

READ is normally delivered in the form of a full day workshop or two half day workshops. There is a longer version of this programme that runs over two full days or four half days that includes filming live footage of participants and reviewing in the group to analyse the effectiveness of their body language and tone of voice.

ASSERT - The Psychology of Assertive Communication

ASSERT is a communication programme that is based on the psychological advantages of mastering assertive communication. Most people tend to be either too aggressive in their communication or too submissive. This leads to interpersonal problems and frequent miscommunication.

 

ASSERT is a highly enjoyable programme that enables participants to strike an effective balance between aggression and non-assertion and learn specific verbal and non-verbal ways of communicating assertively. They will also be able to practice the skill by using case study scenarios and mini role plays.

 

ASSERT is a full-day programme and can also be delivered over two half-days. It is particularly important for leaders who want to communicate authority in a firm but non-threatening way.

RESOLVE: The Psychology of Managing Workplace Conflict

RESOLVE is a programme that focuses on the complex skills of managing conflict in the most effective way to ensure positive win-win resolutions. The programme takes a situational approach to conflict and equips participants with various conflict-management styles applied to different situations.

 

RESOLVE also focuses on negotiation skills that are designed to build agreement between people who have a difference of opinion, personal interest, or point of view. It is a very useful programme for people who work in situations that are particularly prone to creating disagreement.

 

RESOLVE is a highly interactive and practical programme that allows participants plenty of opportunity to practice and discuss challenging situations they face in their daily reality. It is delivered as a full day workshop or two half days.

PRESENCE - Listening & Feedback Skills

PRESENCE is one of PsyPotential’s core programmes that can be useful for everyone in all interpersonal situations. Listening is one of the most underestimated skills and many people who state that they are good listeners are often not as effective as they perceive themselves to be. The same goes for the skills of giving and receiving feedback. Effective feedback skills are so sophisticated that they can be considered an art.

 

PRESENCE is a programme that focuses on two fundamental and essential skills for effective interpersonal relationships. Listening and feedback are also considered to be base skills for effective leaders and managers. This programme focuses on acquiring these two important skills through understanding the psychology behind them and then practising them with other people in the group. The programme is delivered as a one day training seminar or two half days.

Skills for Work Success

THRIVE – Skills for Workplace Effectiveness

THRIVE is a cluster programme that focuses on psychological skills essential for success in the workplace. It brings together various topics from the list of short programmes offered by PsyPotential to form a comprehensive programme aimed at achieving success at work through the various psychological skills.

 

THRIVE consists of three main areas of competence:

 

The first is related to managing oneself effectively such as time management, stress management, goal setting and formulating an effective strategy.

 

The second area is the area of relationship management and focuses on interpersonal skills such as effective communication, assertiveness, being part of a team, managing conflict, etc.

 

The third area of focus is the skills of systemic awareness and how one promotes oneself effectively within the system. While customisable, it is recommended that this programme runs over a minimum of five full days or ten half days. It can also be complemented with individual coaching sessions.

IMPACT - Presentation and Public Speaking Skills Programme

IMPACT is a comprehensive presentation skills programme aimed at equipping participants with all the skills necessary to make effective and powerful presentations. The programme addresses the psychological aspects of overcoming “stage fright” and emotionally engaging the audience.

 

IMPACT covers all essential areas of presentations including structuring the presentation; organising content; creating effective visuals; overcoming presentation jitters; audience management; questioning techniques and effective non-verbal communication. This programme requires three full days for its full version and includes filming live footage of participants for review. However, shorter versions can be designed for groups who already have a degree of exposure and experience in delivering presentations.

DRIVE – The Psychology of Motivation

DRIVE is based on the most recent research findings into the psychology of motivation and employee engagement. It is founded in the work of Dan Ariely and Daniel Pink, two world authorities in the areas of organisational motivation.

 

DRIVE looks into leadership and management practices that maximise motivation and fulfilment in employees and encourages loyalty and pride in the organisation. It focuses on the importance of ensuring that employees feel recognised, valued and appreciated by their leaders.

 

DRIVE presents the basic findings of Pink and Ariely and translates them into practical solutions to drive employee engagement. The programme also taps into the importance of emotional intelligence skills in relation to employee engagement and motivation. This programme is delivered as a full day training programme or two half-day workshops and is especially targeted for managers and leaders.

TRANSFORM - Understanding and Managing Change and Transitions

TRANSFORM is a programme that focuses on the psychology of change. It regards change as a normal and natural part of life that often presents challenges as well as opportunities.

 

TRANSFORM takes participants through the change cycle and offers the skills of managing oneself and others through the various stages of the cycle. Participants will have the opportunity to tap into past experiences of going through change and identify their strengths in dealing with their experiences. They will also be encouraged to identify potential traps that they need to avoid in order to tackle change effectively. The programme also includes a focus on the necessary skills for helping other people negotiate change in the most effective way.

 

This programme is normally delivered as a full day workshop or two half days and is aimed at people at all levels of an organisation with a special emphasis on those who occupy a position of leadership.

PATHWAYS - Coaching and Mentoring Skills

PATHWAYS is a comprehensive coaching and mentoring skills programme that equips participants with all the necessary skills to conduct effective and professional coaching. This is an assessed programme due to the responsibility involved in coaching others.

 

PATHWAYS is based on Gerard Egan’s problem-solving model that has been applied to coaching and mentoring all around the world in leading organisations. It is a structured approach to coaching that leads participants through different stages in the coaching relationship. It is also a strongly psychologically based programme as coaching and mentoring skills both involve the need for psychological knowledge and insight.

 

PATHWAYS is a twenty-hour programme with an additional assessment. This guarantees a top standard programme for all participants. It is especially directed at leaders and managers who want to integrate coaching and mentoring in their role.

TRAIN - Train the Trainer Levels 1 and 2

TRAIN is a complete ‘train the trainer’ programme that is offered at three levels of depth and intensity. TRAIN is based on the C.A.A.T. model of training and development which stands for Climate; Acquisition; Application and Transfer.

 

TRAIN Level 1 is the basic level programme that covers the essentials for beginner trainers. This programme addresses basic training needs analysis, structuring a training session, understanding learning styles, creating the right emotional climate, group facilitation skills, questioning techniques, using technology and props and managing challenging groups. TRAIN level 1 is delivered over twenty contact hours and usually takes the form of five half days.

 

TRAIN Level 2 is the intermediate level programme that covers more advanced techniques such as facilitating discussions, setting up training games, working with role plays and case studies, developing ice-breakers and introductory seeding exercises, understanding psychological roles in a group. Participants will have plenty of opportunity for hands-on practice of every skill that is covered in the programme. TRAIN Level 2 is delivered over sixteen contact hours and usually takes the form of two half-day workshops.

 

TRAIN Level 3 is the advanced ‘train the trainer’ programme and is designed for experienced trainers or participants who have completed levels 1 and 2. It covers advanced training skills such as the Meta-Model of NLP for questioning and positively challenging participants, using emotional intelligence competencies in training sessions, creating brain-compatible training through multi-sensory learning, using sleight of mouth and hypnotic language in training. TRAIN Level 3 is delivered over twelve contact hours and normally takes the form of three half days.

SERVE – Customer Service Excellence Skills

SERVE is a customer service excellence programme that combines core company and service values with a practical programme aimed at internalising best customer service practices amongst employees. Since customer service varies so much from company to company SERVE moulds itself according to the specific needs and circumstances of the organisation.

 

SERVE is built around a psychological understanding of human needs and goes beyond the typical customer care programmes. Instead it taps into a deep understanding of people and instils in its participants the satisfaction of delivering a high quality product or service that is linked to the ultimate purpose of the company. SERVE promotes a sense of pride in doing excellent work and a sense of giving and contribution to society.

 

SERVE is normally delivered over twelve contact hours or three half-day workshops. It can be tailored to all service levels of an organisation including those who lead customer service providers.

PERFORM – Skills in Effective Performance Appraisal Interviewing

PERFORM focuses on the necessary skills for carrying out really effective appraisal interviews aimed at motivating appraisees by providing them with valuable ongoing feedback. It covers all the necessary skills in stages according to a structured interview.

 

PERFORM focuses on the core skills of appraisals: active listening; positive feedback; negative feedback; questioning and probing; summarising and reviewing. The approach also uses the CEDAR and FEED models which are very effective and user- friendly tools for carrying out performance appraisal interviews. The programme includes a number of case study scenarios as well as role-plays that participants carry out under observation.

 

PERFORM can be carried out over a twelve contact-hour period and can also take the form of three half-day training workshops.

Career Advancement and Job Seeking Skills

SUCCEED – Work Ethics and Employability Skills

Entering the world of work can be intimidating to some who feel that they may not have enough experience, or who have very little experience of working, especially in corporate environments.

 

Delving into common workplace behaviour, practices and discussing possible scenarios of situations that are commonplace to a work environment will provide candidates with the needed confidence to apply their knowledge, skills and abilities in the best way possible, and to break down the barriers to re-entering the world of work. This programme may be delivered over a full day workshop or two half days.

SHOWCASE – CV Clinic

Sending a CV (curriculum vitae or resume) and cover letter  are common ways of applying for jobs that are attractive to you. Any written documents sent by a candidate seeking employment are their representation and thus need to be presented in a concise and clear manner to attract the attention of recruiters who receive many of the same documents daily. Understanding the way one’s written communication can affect their chances of employment, and improving the aforementioned will improve the candidates’ probability of being invited to an interview.

 

To ensure full understanding and individual attention, the programme will be delivered over a half-day workshop. (Two hours in class, preparing their CV and covering letter as well as a covering email at home), a further 2 hour session providing feedback and further tips on how their documentation can be improved for future use.)

PERFORM – Interview Techniques for Interviewees

An interview is the gateway to working in a job you feel passionate about. Being aware of how our body language, our spoken communication and the way we present ourselves in general can have a significant impact on our performance during interviews. During the sessions, candidates will be provided feedback on their performance during the mock interview and informed on ways that they can improve their communication to get the right message across. This programme is offered as a half-day workshop, and practice sessions and feedback are included. (An option for those who prefer one to one feedback could also be possible).

SOLVE – Personality and Ability Psychometrics

Psychometric testing is a method of candidate selection in the employment or promotion process that is being widely implemented. By being introduced to psychometric testing – both personality tests and ability tests, candidates will not feel overwhelmed or confused if they are presented with a psychometric test during the recruitment and selection process. Current uses of psychometric testing, as well as what to expect in psychometric testing will be explained. Candidates will be given the opportunity to practice and participate in open discussions. This programme may be delivered over a full day workshop or two half days.
